On Monday, crews will be activating new traffic signals at Bathurst Street and the ramp from Hwy 407. Please see below for further details.

what you need to know:

work dates*: Monday, March 25
work hours*: 9:30am–11:30am

  • Crews will be activating new traffic signals at the intersection of Bathurst and the ramp from Highway 407 [eastbound].
  • During traffic signal activation, the old traffic lights will be out of service intermittently, in all directions. Expect to see the lights out or flashing.
  • This work requires short-term lane closures around each work area as crews make their way around the intersection.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.
  • While there will be no changes to the intersection movements and operations at this time, there will be changes coming in the future. Read more and watch a video about what to expect when the rapidway is complete here: Navigating the rapidways.
  • If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • Cross at the designated crosswalk. It can be tempting to cross in the middle of the road, but this can be very dangerous. Instead, cross at a designated crosswalk. Look both ways and be aware of your surroundings.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

thank you from Community Liaison, Diana Kakamousias

At the end of March, I will be transitioning to a new role at York Region. It has been a pleasure serving the Bathurst & Centre community over the past two years, and I hope you will take the opportunity to try the vivaNext bus rapidway scheduled to be in service at the end of this year.

Until my replacement is found, Laura Black, Project Manager, Communications, will be your point of contact should you have any enquiries on the project. Whether you're a property owner, resident, business or any other interested stakeholder, Laura would be happy to hear from you. She can be reached at 905-716-7663 or Laura.Black@york.ca
