short-term daily southbound lane closures on Yonge this summer

April 26, 2018

As part of the Yonge Street rapidway construction in Newmarket, there will be a series of short-term daily southbound lane closures on Yonge, between Sawmill Valley Drive/Savage Road to Davis Drive, over the next four months. These short-term daily lane closures will expedite construction, and reduce extended impacts on the community. Please see below for more information.

work dates*: As early as May 4, for approximately four months
work hours*: 9:30am-6pm

what you need to know

  • To expedite construction, crews will bring southbound Yonge down to one lane on a block-by-block basis, only when work requires a lane reduction, and during work hours.
  • At times, southbound lane closures will start at 7am to accommodate specialized construction work. Advance notice will be provided where possible.
  • Bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Access to businesses and properties near the work area will be maintained.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

We thank you for your patience while crews work to complete this work. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
